An emerging community initiative working under the name 2010 Strategy.Org is preparing a long-term plan of development for the more than 210,000 Black and Caribbean people in Quebec.
The initiative, which is currently seeking to build partnerships with existing community groups, has planned a series of forums aimed at formulating “a strategic direction for the Black community beginning in 2010 and beyond.”
The three forums will take place over an extended period from October 27 until January 27.
The first one will explore issues such as employment challenges, race relations and youth issues, and will be an opportunity for the community to direct some of its concerns to politicians in the upcoming municipal elections.
On November 27, the focus will be on Strategies for Education Success and ways to build relationships with institutions of learning and family involvement in the process.
On January 27, the discussion will be about economics and ways to facilitate the creation and maintenance of wealth in our community.
All sessions will be held at the Community Centre, 6767 Cote des Neiges Road. For more information call 514-807-4644.
