Imani Family & Full Gospel Church is hosting a Revival in Campbell Park on
August 27th, 28th, and 29th
Our greatness as a community depends on each member’s initiative; however, it is also highly dependent on our sense of mutual regard for each other, and an understanding that we are better if we work together. We often think to ourselves that there is much to do in our communities, regardless of which community we belong to, however, many fail to act to better our community.
In response to the growing number of issues facing the Faith Community, the Imani Family & Full Gospel Church is hosting a Revival in Campbell Park on August 27th, 28th, and 29th to try and combat the ever-present reluctance to get involved and make much needed changes individually and as faith communities. The Theme of the Revival is Peace in the Midst of the Storm which will shed light on our necessity to trust God during our toughest times.
The revival was chosen to be held in Montreal’s Little Burgundy not only because of its spiritual and historical relevance to our community but also because it has become a breeding ground for crime and poverty a place where we’ve witnessed the murder of many young black men over the last few years. Little Burgundy also has the highest rates of subsidized housing in the province, has high unemployment and widespread poverty.
Reverend Darryl Gray summarized it best in his interview with Hour.ca in November, 2003 he stated "Why do these kids feel they don't belong?" Gray asks rhetorically. "Look outside the murders - they are crimes of economics. The environment creates the violence because the environment is the result of discrimination."
Now is the time. We can no longer wait on other to do more while we sit in the shadows hoping that everything works out, we must stand up and unite to show the next generations what it truly means to be our brother’s keeper.
Peace starts within each one of us, and when we have inner peace we can be at peace with those around us. We need to be the generation that plants the trees in order for the coming generations to get the shade.
On August 27th, 28th, and 29t at its Revival in Campbell Park Imani Family & Full Gospel Church will lead the search for answers. Information: 514-846-2020.
