CRTC blamed Radio Canada following the telvising of Bye Bye 2008

CRTC blamed Radio Canada following the telvising of Bye Bye 2008The Black Coalition of Quebec informed Mr M. Hubert T. Lacroix, president of Radio Canada that we have examined the decision of the CRTC of 31 August 2009 that blamed Radio Canada for the diffusion of Bye Bye 2008 and ask Radio Canada to excuse itself before the public.Equally we informed the president that it is very serious that the responsible agents for programming of Radio Canada cannot make the distinction between hate propaganda, racial discrimination and stereotypes compared to acceptable jokes.Following the diffusion of Bye Bye 2008, we took offense to certain remarks made by certain persons who were implicated in the script who tried to generalise the problem of racial discrimination and make it appear that we are dramatizing what was an acceptable discourse. We have demanded that the president of Radio Canada take concrete measures to correct this weakness, we also demanded that he convene a meeting to examine what type of corrections have been made. Conscious of the fact that many different cases of racial discrimination have been programmed on Radio Canada in particular the case of Dr Mailbox, we are waiting for the administration to make the necessary changes to correct the situation. If no action is taken, we have the obligation to circulate a petition to contest the renewal of Radio Canada’s permit.Info: 514-489-3830
